Leading measurement technology solutions provider Hexagon Metrology has announced improvements to the functionality of its I++Simulator package, the only software in the world designed specifically for the simulation of measuring devices with I++DME interfaces.
The latest version, I++Simulator Version 6.0, allows the offline programming and control of a greater range of virtual measuring devices, including automated elements such as robots and automatic feed systems. Giving better programming visibility across the complete inspection process, the software offers many benefits to customers who already use measuring and evaluation software including QUINDOS or PC-DMIS from Hexagon Metrology and other I++DME compatible packages.
The combination of measuring and simulation software offers equal advantages for decision makers, quality assurance planners and measurement technicians. It enables test equipment planning and the creation of measuring programs to occur before the first physical component is produced. Where previously the quality assurance process had to be operational for efficiency to be tested, I++Simulator gives operators the power to optimise turnaround times, eliminate bottlenecks and reduce machine downtime ahead of the event.
“I++Simulator is a powerful tool which helps customers to get the best out of their metrology equipment,” said Ken Woodbine, President of Hexagon Metrology Software Division. “It supports the creation of innovative, efficient and sustainable measuring methodologies with the ability to transform operations for all kinds of business.”
Among other functions, I++Simulator enables collision detection in kinematic multisensor systems, supplies measuring points and inspection times, allows the optimisation of measurement strategies, sensor configurations and clamping configurations, and contributes considerably to reducing programming times. The software can also be used for documentation and part list creation (including as 3D PDFs), or use as an e-learning tool.
