Hexagon Metrology sponsors WorldSkills São Paulo 2015
Competitors from more than 60 countries will gather to compete in more than 45 different skills14 July 2015
From 11 to 16 August Hexagon Metrology will be amongst those welcoming more than 1,200 competitors to the Anhembi Park Exhibition Centre in São Paulo for the bi-annual WorldSkills competition. WorldSkills is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world that truly reflects global industry. Competitors represent the best of their peers and are selected from skills competitions in WorldSkills member countries. One of the main legacies of the WorldSkills Competitions is to give visibility and importance to professional education, as one of the true tools of socioeconomic transformation.
For the first time ever the event will take place in Latin America where it is organised by both the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI), which is one of the five largest complexes of professional education in the world and WorldSkills International, a global organization promoting skills excellence and development.
Hexagon Metrology is an official gold sponsor of this year's event which includes the provision of several hardware and software solutions that the competitors will use. Entrants will utilise equipment, such as the Hexagon Metrology INSPECTOR BR 686, a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) that provides highly accurate 3D measurement data. Other systems available to help the competitors complete their challenges include the Optiv Performance, an optical measuring device and PC-DMIS, the world’s most widely used measuring software.
“Education is a key element in ensuring that the demands of industry in South America and around the world are met,” said Danilo Lapastini, Vice President Hexagon Metrology South America. “In supporting events like this we are able to demonstrate Hexagon Metrology’s commitment to vocational based learning and the challenge of a competition brings fun and exciting elements into the teaching and training of these much needed skills.”
WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 is open to the public from 12 to 15 August with an estimated 200,000 visitors. For more information, visit www.worldskillssaopaulo2015.com.
