Short description:

Technical Author produces, supports and maintains online help and associated collateral for Hexagon Production Software’s market leading CAD/CAM products to agreed plans and specifications. The incumbent reports to the Product Manager.

Tasks in detail:
  • Define, design, create and manage the online help and other technical collateral
  • Technical writing, generating online and some printed documentation
  • Create graphics and videos for use in the documentation
  • Generate documentation source files for localisation
  • Provide instructions for and support to language translators
  • Actively contribute to the overall planning of software projects with Agile scrum teams
  • Assist in the implementation of plans and undertake necessary tasks within software projects to achieve agreed timescales and required quality standards  
  • Actively contribute to the development of product documentation and promote new ideas and technologies
  • Maintain a competent level of technical knowledge and skills, keeping abreast of developments in new technologies in relation to product design and gaining a competitive edge
  • To contribute to the team, providing help and support to other team members
  • From time-to-time undertake additional activities as business needs, keeping with your skills, experience or to aid individual development
  • Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or language degree
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Technical Author in a software/IT based environment, or a recent graduate with strong interest in in technical writing

  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
