CoreView Pro is a reporting and statistical analysis software, currently in use by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence 3D Optical Scanners as the BLAZE600M, the WLS 400 platform and the WLS qFLASH systems. The CoreView Pro environment's intent is to enable actionable data collaboration within the organization, and is a fast and simple way to support multiple manufacturing processes. Features such as multi-part comparison, statistical analysis, Master Part and more enable a clear understanding of your operation across the manufacturing process.
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence has released the new CoreView Pro user interface (UI) for beta testing. The new U.I. provides easy navigation and part rotation along with enhancements to the tool's statistical analysis capabilities.
Enhancements such as: richer statistical data, incorporating CP/CPK as part of the feature notification (callout) as well as in-report tables and enhanced graph trending display for the dimensions defined makes the data more visible to users. Another enhancement is the ability to split the report screen to up to 4 different sections. In each section, the user can define different part display or provide statistical information side-by-side with part information. Each window can display a different view or the same view in all windows.
Finding the Minimum Diameter of a Hole
Ideally, all holes have the same diameter along their length, but depending upon the runout of the tool, the diameter will change (one end will be larger than the other). For functional reasons, the minimum diameter is often desired. In this month’s tech corner, we will give you step by step instructions on how to find the minimum diameter of a hole using a tactile solution.
Did you know: The best solution to find the minimum for a hole is to use a vision sensor. By using axial light to illuminate through the feature, the minimum diameter can easily be found.
Before we get started, it is important to note that these steps require the surface of each hole being accessible by the probe, and must be long enough to travel down most of the hole to account for draft.
The following steps illustrate the solution using a tactile probe:
Did you know: If the system does not have a camera or not enough light goes through the feature, a tactile solution must be used.
1) Measure a cone with a hardcoded angle (Tech Tip: if the angle is left as zero, PC-DMIS assumes a cylinder and then both calculated diameters will be equal).
2) Measure a plane on either side of the feature.
3) Construct intersection circles between the cone and the planes.
4) Place the circles into an array, and find the minimum.
