What is truly distinctive though is how many of my peers have been with the company for an extended period; in many cases securing 10, 15 or 20+ years’ service under their belts. In an age where moving frequently between roles is often seen as a way to move up the corporate ladder, or simply a demonstration of the grass appearing greener on the other side, it’s refreshing to see that not all companies struggle to find team members who know when they’ve found a good thing.
I joined Hexagon in January 2015 as a senior software engineer and immediately knew I had found a place that would be very hard to leave. The company culture stuck out to me from the very first day; the core values, work ethic and an honest and open approach to conversation. It continued to strengthen the feeling that I had made the right decision joining the company.
As a software engineer, I enjoy taking risks. Being creative and working on cutting edge technology that is exciting as well as useful is what gets me through the day, but I also strive to be nurtured and develop my career and experience. Hexagon identifies pathways through the organisation for employee growth; offering a diverse range of potential roles and career prospects. Personal objectives are regularly discussed between employees and their line managers, reviewing performance and setting development objectives to help their career excel. An objective I was working towards was to become a team leader, and I am very proud that the start of 2018 saw that dream become a reality.
