Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is Hesse Champion 2019 in the ‘World Market Leader’ category
Manufacturing technology specialist named as award winner by German state of Hesse07 11月 2019
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s Wetzlar location won the World Market Leader category with the Leitz Infinity ultra-high accuracy coordinate measuring machine (CMM). “The 'World Market Leader' award is a great honour for us. We are proud to be one of the Hesse Champions," says Wetzlar General Manager Jochen Mohn, delighted with the award.
Leitz Infinity is the most accurate 3D CMM within its class and enables the combination of optical and tactile sensors in one measurement system. The special machine design of the Leitz Infinity and its specified basic accuracy of 0.3 µm, around 300 times smaller than the thickness of a human hair, are the basis for its superlative measurement performance. The CMM’s ability to make challenging measurements with sub-micrometer precision makes the Leitz Infinity a successful solution for renowned measurement institutes, calibration laboratories and a variety of manufacturing companies.
Swiss-based Gribi Messtechnik GmbH is a user of the Leitz Infinity. “We have made a name for ourselves internationally by delivering high-precision measurement results when competitors have been unable to," says Managing Director Rudolf Gribi.
With its Leitz Infinity, Gribi Messtechnik is in the same league as national metrology institutes, who are the benchmark when it comes to 3D measurement technology. Gribi is a measurement service provider for a wide range of industries, for example medical technology and aviation. A high level of precision is also required in the watch making industry: Gribi Messtechnik measures watch plates with the Leitz Infinity. “This industry has always talked about precision in terms of micrometers. But these days it also needs to be verified so that assembly of the tiny parts can be automated,” says Gribi. “The requirements in this area have increased tremendously.”
When it comes to the measurement of turbine blades used in aviation, the precision of the Leitz Infinity can make a significant contribution to the improvement of efficiency. The low measurement uncertainty offered by the device means that manufacturers can now use special grinding wheels for much longer. The tolerances calculated in the past can now be fully utilised. This means that grinding wheels can be used for much longer and the costs for expensive rework or reprocessing are reduced. Gribi is pleased: “This is a great example of how we can use the Leitz Infinity to help our customers continually push the boundaries.”
