Job Title:  Senior Power Electronics Engineer

Location: Nottingham


We are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer with focus on automotive and related applications, for our projects in design, development, troubleshooting or optimisation of electrified drive systems.

Main Tasks:
  • Delivering engineering work and taking technical leadership of aspects of our projects including activities such as
    • Concept design of inverters – trade off studies for different technology options, alongside consideration of the impact on the electric machine options so as to optimize at the system level.
    • Invert design and optimization utilizing latest CAE software from within the Hexagon group and other leading 3rd party tools, for instance in selection of devices, design of gate drivers, and simulation of the performance.
    • Working closely with designers to create 3D geometry, assembly manuals, wiring harnesses, sensor selections etc.
    • Working with suppliers to specify and oversee the build and test of prototype systems.
    • Specification and performance of verification bench testing for power electronics systems.
    • Providing opinions on future capability and technology development in the area of power electronics for the immediate team and wider group.
  • Contributing your expertise to business development activities
    • Discussions with customers in meetings and web-meetings
    • Writing proposals for project work or R&D funding
    • Delivering marketing material, e.g. webinars, blog posts

  • High level qualifications (typically degree) in electrical engineering or related subject
  • 3+ years experience in a related area i.e. Automotive industry
  • Simulation and circuit modelling experience
  • Ecad experience (e.g. Altium design)
