Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Structures Technical Marketing Summer Intern for our North Kingstown, RI location. Our interns play an integral role in the success of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.

If you’ve ever ridden in a car, flown in an airplane, or stood on a bridge, you have experienced the world of structural analysis, probably without even knowing it. We are seeking an engineering student interested in learning the software tools that make this modern world a reality. The reason why these tools of modern society are so safe are because of the work our customers do with our software simulation tools on a daily basis. At Hexagon’s Design & Engineering division, we help our customers invent the products that define the modern world as it stands today

This internship will help with technical marketing efforts for Hexagon’s Structures Center of Excellence (COE).  This internship is 50% technical, and 50% sales/marketing. This internship will support technical marketing activities including, but not limited to, MSC Nastran & MSC Apex finite element analysis (FEA) & structural analysis demo development, marketing content development, and training material development to support the latest industry trends, including the emerging Aerospace eVTOL industry, Automotive eMobility industry, and Offshore Shipbuilding & Wind Energy industry. This internship will work with the latest and greatest engineering software tools used by engineers currently working in these industries, and since engineering simulation is such a strong skill, this internship will offer a perspective on future careers within these different Aero/Space/Auto/Shipbuilding/Wind Energy industries, as well as within Hexagon Design and Engineering’s Manufacturing Intelligence division.

  • Develop finite element models (FEM) for the Aerospace, Automotive, Shipbuilding, and/or Wind Energy Industries.
  • Develop marketing content (Demos, PPT’s & Videos) and associated training materials to support the global sales and technical teams as they support our customers worldwide.
  • Assess new potential market opportunities, including emerging industries such as eVTOL, Moon/Mars infrastructure development, advanced shipbuilding, and the growing Offshore Wind industry.

  • Must be enrolled in a Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering or Applied Mathematics program and in good academic standing 
  • Ability to work Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week during the summer break   
  • Mechanical, Structural, and/or Aerospace engineering basics – Statics, Dynamics, Vibrations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with strong English language proficiency.
  • Basic experience with CAD simulation software such as Solidworks, Autodesk, CATIA, NX.
  • Basic experience with CAE simulation software such as MSC Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, NX, Altair.
  • Basic experience with the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
