MSC Software to share CAE Strategies for eVTOL Aircraft Development and Certification at Revolution.Aero Global 2021

MSC Software Unravels Urban Air Mobility Design and Engineering Challenges

29 June 2021

Irvine, CA – June 29, 2021 – MSC Software, part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division, announced today that James Pura will share new high-productivity approaches to eVTOL aircraft certification at Revolution.Aero Global 2021, a virtual event for aviation professionals shaping the future of flight. On Tuesday, July 29, at 3:50 p.m. EST, Mr. Pura will present Certification of eVTOL Aircraft: Leveraging Engineering Simulation to Ensure Safety and Structural Integrity. Pura has an extensive background in the field of computer-aided engineering (CAE) software applications, technical engineering, and business development.  He currently serves as a Global Product Manager for MSC Software. Revolution.Aero will be held from Tuesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 1, 2021, providing a major venue for attendees to learn about new innovations and progress in the air mobility sector. Registration for the event can be found here.

During the session, Mr. Pura will examine the key drivers of advanced air mobility projects worldwide, such as improved safety, cleaner air, lower greenhouse gas emissions and increased sustainability. He will address the commercial, technical and regulatory challenges of the design and manufacture of next-generation aircraft such as air taxis, cargo drones, personal air vehicles (PAVs) and military applications. Pura will also cover the ongoing crucial work to build standards and a regulatory framework for eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) and electric flight.

Additionally, Mr. Pura will analyze the primary hurdles for consumer acceptance and success in the urban air mobility marketplace. His talk will share actionable workflows, best practices and  simulation and analysis software choices critical to eVTOL airframe and powertrain development. He will conclude the session with a breakdown of the software tools required for the heavy lift aspects of aeroelastic design and engineering from safety and reliability to structural design and lightweighting, as well as aerodynamics, controls, propulsion and more.

Over a three-day period, Revolution.Aero Global 2021 will provide a meeting of the minds to introduce late-breaking industry advancements in a convenient virtual format. In addition to presentations, attendees will find various interactive opportunities including digital Q&A, live polling, and live networking with attendees and speakers.
