HxGN LOCAL Beijing Attracts Record Audiences for Hexagon User Conference

More Than 3200 Users of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence Technologies Join Event at the China National Convention Centre

13 September 2018
Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division welcomed record numbers of attendees at HxGN LOCAL Beijing this week, with over 3200 Manufacturing Intelligence technology users joining an audience of more than 6000 people for the three-day event from 10-12 September 2018. Held at the China National Convention Center and boasting over 400 breakout sessions alongside 200 technology demonstrations in a 11000-square-metre exhibition space, the event represents Hexagon’s largest user conference to date.

During the opening keynote address on 10 September, Hexagon President and CEO Ola Rollén presented Hexagon’s vision of creating autonomous connected ecosystems (ACE) to unlock the true potential of data and elaborated on the role of the Xalt framework in achieving this vision. Following Rollén’s presentation, Li Hongquan, President of Hexagon Greater China, took to the stage to explore in more detail the benefits of Hexagon’s solutions in key industry domains and offer insight into current and future applications in China, including the development of Smart Factories.

The Smart Factory theme was picked up in the three-part Manufacturing Intelligence keynote. Division President Norbert Hanke presented a compelling argument, entitled ‘The Case For ACE’, on the need for manufacturing to embrace the autonomous movement. Highlighting the demanding technological and mindset challenges of the Made in China 2025 programme, Hanke argued that digital transformation is not optional for manufacturers, before revealing Hexagon’s three imperatives for pursuing a Smart Factory strategy: Digital First and Data Driven, Infinitely Connected and Innately Intelligent. Brian Shepherd, Senior Vice President for Software Solutions, followed with an exploration of ‘The Race for ACE’ – revealing some of Hexagon’s latest ideas to support the development of Smart Factories. Finally, Hao Jian, Vice President of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division in China, explained why he believes that China is ‘The Place for ACE’ – a country poised to capitalise on the emerging technologies of the fourth industrial revolution and ready to embrace digital transformation for a brighter future.

Customers expecting to see evidence of the keynote’s promise were not disappointed, with over half the exhibition space and several sessions dedicated to solutions for the Smart Factory and related technologies. Dedicated measurement solutions for automotive, aerospace and 3C electronics applications were demonstrated alongside a wealth of software solutions designed to drive quality and productivity throughout the product lifecycle.
