Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Launches New Retrofit Controllers to Revitalise Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)

RC Line can Extend the Service Life of Most Installed Bridge, Gantry and Horizontal-Arm CMMs

06 September 2018

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global provider of manufacturing technology and services, has announced the extension of its RC Line of retrofit controllers, designed to minimise the risk of machine downtime by extending the life of most coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) regardless of brand or age. The RC Line range allows operators with obsolete or non-upgradable controllers to maintain machine performance and enables upgrades to the latest CMM sensors and software.

The RC241 and RC4K controllers join the highly-successful RC1 controller to complete the product line and provide customers with a comprehensive solution that can revitalise CMMs from a wide range of current and non-active providers. Each controller is able to smoothly interface with any CMM automatically with its revolutionary R-Tune technology. The RC Line of controllers vary in terms of output wattage to cater for different customer performance requirements and are fully compatible with all software and sensors available on new Hexagon CMMs with DC controllers. A large network of global service teams provide professional support before, during, and after the retrofit installation.

“Running obsolete equipment is a huge risk as the potential machine downtime can have a massive impact on manufacturing productivity. For many installed bases, CMM components like controllers aren’t just nearing end of life but were made by manufacturers no longer active on the market,” says Dario Tessarollo, General Manager Global Aftermarket Business, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. “Hexagon’s RC Line enables customers to not only minimise downtime, but also revitalise their CMM to original performance, extending the machine’s longevity and boosting ROI.”

The RC Line of retrofit controllers – comprised of RC241, RC1 and RC4K – are available to order worldwide from today. Full details are available from local Hexagon commercial operations and dealers.
