Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Shows Data-Driven Production Solution at StonExpo
Alphacam Stone Software and ROMER Absolute Arm accelerate precise stone fabrication18 January 2017
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence North America today announced it will showcase a data-driven production solution for marble and stone industry in Booth 4689 at StonExpo, an International Stone event, held from January 18 – 20, 2017 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The specialized solution integrates the portable ROMER Absolute Arm 73 Series with Alphacam Stone software from Vero Software to provide a streamlined approach to solve the unique challenges of marble and stone fabrication. During the trade show, demonstrations will feature new features in Alphacam 2017 coupled with the measurement and inspection capability of the ROMER Absolute Arm with a fully integrated RS3 laser scanner. Alphacam Stone is one of the most widely-used CAM software packages in the stone industry, developed through Vero Software's close industry partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to create the ultimate tool of the trade. The all-purpose metrology system delivered by the ROMER 73 series PCMM (portable coordinate measurement machine) is an ideal solution for stone cutting craftsmen who need to scan and reverse engineer existing parts. The scanning process captures intricately detailed part surfaces and converts point clouds into usable data for machining processes. This digital methodology introduces a new level of speed and accuracy as compared to traditional manual methods of stone production. The integrated laser scanner is designed to capture data from almost any object surface. Specific point data can also be captured from a part's surface, as scanner and probe measurements are combined in the same software session.
"The stone and marble industry can confidently move into data-driven production with this price/performing solution," states Gene Daniell, Product Manager of ROMER Absolute Portable Arms, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. "From architectural to artistic applications, this innovative pairing of Hexagon technologies delivers high end capabilities such as laser scanning, 3D modeling, reverse engineering, tool path generation, measurement and inspection and more. The ROMER 73 series arm - Alphacam Stone package is offered at a competitive price point for stone fabricators looking for a comprehensive toolset that will help reduce costly machining mistakes and increase overall productivity."
The StonExpo is one of three expos featured at the International Surface Event, the largest trade show in North America dedicated to the stone, tile, and floor-covering industries. Comprised of the SURFACES, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas and TileExpo trade shows, the International Surface Event offers the latest products, as well as hands-on demonstrations, networking and educational opportunities, and much more.
