Q-DAS Forum
Hexagon-owned statistical process control specialist Q-DAS held its biennial user meeting last week, welcoming over two-hundred guests to Weinheim Town Hall.

The Q-DAS Forum 2016 took place on 25 October and featured a full schedule of presentations from industry and academic leaders, as well as Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence experts. New developments in international standards and the future of quality management solutions were among the headline sessions, while speakers from Bosch, BMW, MAHLE, Hengst and Fronius highlighted real-world use cases for a wealth of manufacturing technologies and processes.

In the opening presentation, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Schmitt, Director at the WZL of RWTH Aachen & Member of the Board of Directors of the Frauenhofer IPT, discussed the use of smart quality data for process stability in small-batch manufacturing. The theme of smart manufacturing continued throughout the day; Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence President and CEO Norbert Hanke closed the forum with a keynote discussing the role of data and statistical analysis in the smart connected factory.

For the first time, the forum’s technology exhibition showcased the wider Hexagon metrology and manufacturing technology portfolio alongside the Q-DAS product offering. Featured solutions included AICON optical measurement products, Vero Software CAD/CAM packages, m&h machine tool probes and TESA hand gauges. Visitors could also get a demonstration of the Hexagon’s QUINDOS metrology software or browse the TEQ training catalogue for 2017.

“The Q-DAS Forum has traditionally been a very important event for our user base and we’re very grateful for their support,” said Stephan Sprink, Team Leader Marketing Sales at Q-DAS. “Today was a great opportunity to network and share ideas, and of course it has been a great pleasure to introduce more of our Q-DAS users to the ideas and technologies of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.”
