Hexagon Metrology runners take on the world for charity

Employees globally enter Wings for Life World Run to raise money for spinal cord injury research

14 April 2015

Hexagon Metrology personnel around the world will be pounding the pavements this month in preparation for the Wings for Life World Run. Joining over 50 000 runners in 35 locations worldwide, employees are putting their best foot forward to help the Wings for Life charity raise money for spinal cord injury research.

Combining global participation with individual challenge, the Wings for Life World Run is a unique charity challenge that allows people to set their own goals. Every race location starts at the same time, day or night, and half an hour later the ‘Catcher Cars’ set off in pursuit. Instead of running a fixed distance, these mobile finish lines mean that competitors run as far as they are personally able to.

Wings for Life is an international not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation. The annual World Run contributes hugely to its funding, with 100% of the entry fees donated to the charity to support its goal of finding a cure for spinal cord injury. In 2015, Hexagon Metrology will be making an additional donation of €50 per employee who takes part.

“We first became aware of Wings for Life through our partnership with Infiniti Red Bull Racing,” said Anne Willimann, Director of Global Marketing Communications at Hexagon Metrology. “For an international company like Hexagon Metrology, it’s a pleasure to be able to support a charity like this on a really global level. Our teams are spread across five continents and the World Run is a great opportunity to come together and do something amazing for this special cause – while also enjoying some healthy internal competition!”

The Wings for Life World Run takes place on 3 May 2015 in 35 locations around the world. For more information visit www.hexagonmetrology.com/WorldRun.
