Short description:

The Mechanical Engineering Analyst will be responsible for developing new, quicker and more accurate mathematical methods of mechanical systems. You will use FE tools and multi-body simulation tools such as Adams or Simpack. They key factor for success in this role is to be inquisitive and keen to develop simulation approaches that surpass the current best-practice.

The Mechanical Engineering Analyst will report to the Head of Innovation and Research.

Tasks in more detail:
  • Working on the development of methods for the simulation of mechanical systems for a range of physics, covering statics, stress, dynamics and thermal
  • Being highly proficient in the use of FE tools and ideally multi-body simulation tools such as Adams, Simpack, not just from a practitioners point of view but also from first principles
  • Being mathematically highly competent, inquisitive and keen to develop simulation approaches that surpass the current best-practice
  • Being part of the Research & Innovation Team but liaising closely with other teams across Hexagon, especially the software development teams for Enduro, Adams & Spectrum

  • University degree in Engineering, Physics or Maths and ideally a PhD
  • Experience in using conventional tools like FE or multi-body dynamics
  • Understanding of the mathematical methods used in the conventional tools
  • Attitude to question whether the methods are the right approach
