Short description:

We are looking for a Software Developer to design, develop and implement IT solutions for  MSC Software data management tools, such as SimManager and MaterialCenter.

The team you’ll be part of is formed mainly by engineers providing high added value consulting services to leading companies, and your role as a software developer will be mainly writing customised solutions around the existing product catalog. Therefore very varied, and relatively short projects.

Tasks in detail:

  • Design, develop, implement and integrate IT solutions in response to customers’ requirements, involving Hexagon’s and third party tools, following industry best practices. This includes Hexagon/MSC Software leading tools such as SFx/Xalt, SimManager and MaterialCenter. You’ll receive training on the above when hired, but any knowledge of these or similar tools will be very positively valued.
  • Provide creative solutions to complex customer problems, making use of the extensive catalog of Hexagon/MSC Software tools and solutions.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers with wildly varied skills and expertise, to which you will be expected to add value in providing solutions to customers in Automotive, Aerospace, Electronics, and Energy industries among others.
  • Help respond to complex business questions going beyond what our customers’ teams are currently capable of today.

Requirements:
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the development in any modern mainstream programming language (such as C++ or Java) with knowledge of its tool ecosystem.
  • Experience working with C/C++, Java, or a JVM based language.
  • Strong sense of responsibility towards the team and our customers.
  • Understand the value of good documentation and be willing to create it for your own work.
  • Positive, constructive and creative attitude and keen to learn.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Nice to have:
  • University degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent science degree
  • Experience working with Python.
  • Knowledge of Database Management Systems, Relational or no-SQL, both as developer and maintainer/administrator.
  • Knowledge of modern Developer/DevOps best practices: Version control (Subversion, GIT), unit testing and CI/CD.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix/Windows IT infrastructures around web based information systems (HTML, XML, Apache).

What we offer:

You will own a unique role where you can broaden your skillset and work within a multi-disliplinary team of engineers. Within our global company you can develop your career – steered by your interests and ambitions .

Freedom to work from wherever in the UK. After the first couple of weeks of training on-site, you can work remote from home, except for a monthly visit to our offices to meet the team (possibly Nottingham or Frimley). This role isn’t tied to any location, as long as you live and work in mainland UK. If you prefer to work from the office, then no problem, that is also possible.
