Job Description
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Senior Software Developer to work with standards which you will be implementing as a mathematical calculation in our CAE applications. You will also be responsible for integrating these standards with the front-end GUIs and design object models.
You will be a software developer with an enquiring and technical mind, looking to work on technical software which is used across the world and be able to work with technical experts in the domain.
You must be ready to challenge yourself working with expert developers in applied maths, gears and across a stack that includes desktop front and back ends. You will have experience of translating requirements from on-site teams based in the UK and converting them into software design and code.
You will be part of the team responsible for developing standards for our world leading CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) applications used by blue-chip electric-vehicle, renewable energy, aerospace & automotive industries.

Key responsibilities
You must be able to work across the whole software development life-cycle (SDLC):
  • Understand and interpret the standards from the developer’s perspective
  • Implement standards by writing efficient code
  • Understand the technical requirements from our product designers in the UK
  • Code new features in our simulation software
  • Code reviews, peer-programming, debugging
  • Test software against user & technical requirements / Standards
  • Write automated unit tests and validation tests
  • Work with developers, testers and product designers in Agile environment
  • Actively contribute to the culture of this dynamic team

Job requirements and qualifications

    • 3-5 years of commercial software development experience, of which significant experience is in C#, Smalltalk or Python, C++ (basics)
    • Front/Back-end experience in .NET WPF
    • 2:1 or better graduate in computer-science, a science or any engineering degree
    • Good numeracy skills
    • Love of technology and attention to details
    • Automated testing – unit and system testing
    • Experience of working on complex object models or API’s
    • Use of JSON or XML
    • Production use of Git, GitLab or GitHub
    • Experience of mentoring junior team members
    • Agile methods such as Scrum
    • Ability to understand/ interpret the standards
    • Basic knowledge of MS Excel

    • Experience of Desktop development
    • Experience in JIRA or similar tracking tools
    • Experience in documentation using wiki’s or Confluence
    • An appreciation for physics/maths or Mechanical/Automobile engineering
    • Test Driven Development
    • Strong English skills, written and spoken
