ROLE & PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The project manager oversees all related R&D projects, coordinates implementation and testing activities for the complete solution locally and in collaboration with R&D teams worldwide. They make sure that all projects are delivered on time, on quality and on costs.


The duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:


Project Management:
  • Provides leadership and management on all R&D projects
  • Oversees all aspects of the project using planning & monitoring and systems
  • Local resource planning with team leaders as well as remote resource planning with cooperating R&D teams
  • Follows Hexagon Innovation process (HIP) and reports milestones and deviations to monthly Project Milestone Meeting (PMM)
  • Implements and follows R&D procedures and project processes, reporting on the performance and initiating improvements for R&D
  • Works closely with Hexagon Technology Center and other related R&D sites worldwide
  • Supports definition of a successful technology vision and product development strategy
  • Works with subunits and departments: System engineering and product marketing to understand requirements and definition of product roadmaps
  • Works closely with product management to guarantee products are delivered and introduced and launched to the market on time
  • Coordinates with external technology partners to reduce time to market, optimize product cost structure and maximize performance of existing product technologies
  • Runs the projects in an efficient and effective way to ensure that products are delivered on time, fulfilling requirements with the required quality whilst also keeping within the budgeted costs.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, PHD or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of working experience, preferably in a high-tech industry
  • Experience as project manager in cross functional Hardware- / Software projects 
  • Certification as project manager (IPMA level C or higher) is advantageous
  • Develops and mentors’ indirect reports to expand their skills and knowledge
  • Very good team-leadership skills with a proven background of working together with an international team and staff at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with multi-functional team members
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Entrepreneurial drive and strong work ethics
  • Ability to work independently and yet be fully accountable
  • Strong sense of urgency, responsibility and accountability

Language:
  • Fluent in English is mandatory
  • Basic knowledge of German
