Hexagon Metrology’s new technical centre in Pune was officially opened on 28 August 2015 by senior management figures including Mr. Norbert Hanke (CEO & President, Hexagon Metrology), Mr. Lim Boon Choon (President, Hexagon Metrology Asia Pacific), Mr. Ajay Seth (President, Hexagon India) and Mr. Anup Verma (Managing Director, Hexagon Metrology India).
The state-of-the-art technical centre will be the base for in-house teams focused on facilitating technological growth and operational excellence, thereby providing support to customers in the region.
Speaking at the opening, Norbert Hanke said, “This new technical centre will add a local aspect to our operations in the region and help us continue to deliver high-value services competitively. We are committed to being close to our customers around the world and I think Pune will become a real hub for metrology expertise in India.”
Commenting on the occasion, Ajay Seth said, “The opening of the new centre is intended to boost Hexagon Metrology’s presence in the region, enabling it to strengthen relationships with clients and partners and provide tailored solutions and services in high-growth areas.”
“While the new centre certainly enhances our brand visibility for this zone, our overriding priority is to provide prompt and highly-competent aftermarket service to our esteemed and loyal customers,” added Anup Verma.
80 visitors from major automotive OEMs, Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers and Partners attended the centre’s first open house session on 4 September 2015, enjoying hands-on demonstrations and presentations and demonstrations of the latest technology innovations. Several systems were exhibited at the facility, from the latest ultra-portable laser tracker systems, cost-efficient and accurate portable measuring arms, and comprehensive next-generation white light scanner systems, to the robust bridge-type coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and extremely flexible multisensor and optical systems. With manufacturing customers focusing on shortening cycle times and bridging the gap between initial designs and final products, attendees were also invited to test metrology equipment on actual production parts in a real-time benchmarking exercise.
“Today represents the ‘right step taken in the right direction’, which will set Hexagon Metrology apart from the competition,” commended Mr. Vijay Hatwalane, a well-known Senior Metrology Consultant with over 30 years of experience, during the session. “Such events should be conducted regularly – as we can see the response has been very positive, with key industry players and their suppliers attending the session.”
