The 1,000mph car
The BLOODHOUND Project is a UK attempt to set a world land speed record. Combining the aerodynamics of a car and a jet fighter, the BLOODHOUND SSC supersonic car aims to exceed speeds of 1,000mph. The world record attempts will commence in 2017 on the Hakskeen Pan in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province.
The Project has a number of objectives
- Inspire the next generation about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
- Share an iconic research and development programme with a global audience.
- Set a new World Land Speed Record of 1000mph.
Breaking world records, however, requires more than the supply of metrology products. Our engineers are working closely with the BLOODHOUND SSC team, providing expert advice, training and support built to maximise the chances of setting the 1,000mph record.
